good things to know, so you’re good to go.
we’re the huge new building behind the safeway in town. look closely and you can see a peekaboo view of us from rte 2.
we get these a lot:
-
think of it like riding a bike. once you’ve done it once, it’s like you’ve been doing it your whole life.
it’s super fun. it feels good. it’s better when you do it with friends. it can be super casual or you can get pretty into it, and workout until you have all those metrics right where you want them.
-
fantabulous. we love that for you. our fitness area is designed for people who want to lift heavy, move around in lots of space, and get their cardio on.
we have stairmasters, treadmills, bikes, kettlebells, bands, bars, all the equipment you need to get in your workout. our fitness space is designed to be as good of a gym as you’ll find anywhere in town, be you a climber or not.
p.s.a. our fitness area is adjacent to our climbing area, so the only thing to know is that some people eventually get the magnetic pull to pull on some plastic. that’s good for fitness too tho.
-
great. we have day passes for you.

hi new friend.
we’re located right behind the safeway in town. super convenient, and it’s our experience that we make better decisions in safeway after a good session at beargrass.
we have two big bouldering rooms — one designed for adults and one designed for families. a full fitness gym. a designated climbing training area. a mezzanine for hanging out or plugging in, with a couple of “phone booths” for private chats.
membership is one month at a time, no start up fee, no commitment.
-
we’ve got space for everyone. our family area is designed specifically to accommodate parents and kiddos hanging out in a family friendly environment. one side has big bouldering walls that are appropriate for all levels of climbing. first timers find easier moves, and it gets more challenging from their. plus a little kiddo wall chock full of slides, hiding spots, and colorful little holds for little hands.
-
yes to snacks and “hydration”.
we have a cafe/bar/restaurant at beargrass serving up fresh healthy food, good beer and wine, and coffee for the energy. it’s called ouzel kitchen. comfy space inside and outside.
we dare say ouzel kitchen is worth a visit on it’s own merits.
-
ok, so here’s the deal. we embrace the beauty of the natural body, and think a little post workout glaze adds to the essence of a healthy human.
kidding. sorta.
srsly tho, we decided to skip locker rooms and showers, because they tend to create more problems than they solve. admit it, you’ve found yourself in some pretty fanky facilities even when the owners had only the best of intentions.
we really do understand that this is a decision that has pros and cons that are different for different people. when we weighed all the things, we landed that skipping them was the path to provide the best experience for everyone who comes to the gym.
-
take it as a sign that you should try harder.
or if you have no idea what that means, it’s an inside joke among climbers that it’s always a little disheartening when you’ve been trying to successfully climb (i.e. send) a boulder problem for an hour, and then a kiddo comes up and nails it on their first try.
bouldering is great for kids and we love to see it. just keep on keeping on, knowing that the kids are going to be alright, and that our ever adulting persons can still reach an extant of enlightenment thru holds on walls.
